Slide 13: What Are Multimedia Authoring Programs?  Software   Coordinating the graphics, video, animation, text, and sound in the development of multimedia. Combine text with other multimedia to make an integrated package, often on CD-ROM/DVD. Two Most common Types:    1. Interactive 2. Multimedia Presentations
Slide 14: Why Do We Need Multimedia Authoring Programs? 1. Interactive:     Contains all the elements that are needed to produce a presentation. Program has bits and pieces of everything: ability to paint, write, animate and add sound and video all within the same program. Requires little or no programming knowledge. Drop-in the information i.e.- Power Point, Roxio, Nero, Inspiration, Wetpaint.com, Freewebs.com, Blogspot.com.
Slide 15: Why Do We Need Multimedia Authoring Programs? 2. Multimedia presentations:  More like an authoring shell.  Frame work for drawing together the media into an interactive environment.  But the different media would have to be created separately in painting programs, animation programs, sound files, and word processors.  The author creates the full package pulling from multiple sources, not ‘drop-in’ ready, i.e. word processors, Adobe Acrobat.
